Program details

Enjoy all of San Francisco’s most famous attractions and some hidden gems on this comprehensive tour. Take in world-famous landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard Street and Fisherman’s Wharf before embarking on a sailing trip around the infamous island prison of Alcatraz. Your guide will entertain and inform you with stories and historical anecdotes from each of the sites and there are plenty of photo stops to capture this unforgettable experience.

Admire the sheer size and scale of the Golden Gate Bridge. Measuring 1.7 miles, it has been declared one of the Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers and is approaching its 80th birthday. Proceed to Lombard Street, one of San Francisco’s most iconic streets with its steep hill, decorative flowers and tight hairpin bends. Featured in many movies such as Hitchcock’s “Vertigo”, the street is instantly recognizable.

Explore the popular Fisherman’s wharf district, home to the Aquarium of the Bay, Ripley’s Believe it or Not museum and the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. On the way between these tourists’ favourites your local guide will divert you to appreciate some of the city’s underappreciated gems that the majority of tours don’t cover.
Once you have explored the city on foot, jump aboard a boat and cruise under the Golden Gate Bridge, past Treasure Island and Angel Island to the notorious island of Alcatraz. Nicknamed “The Rock”, for thirty years Alcatraz housed the most dangerous criminals in the United States. Given its isolation and the cold waters surrounding its shores, the prison was considered unescapable. However, over the years a few prisoners made daring attempts and you will learn the mysterious stories surrounding their legend.
