Program details

San Diego's mild climate makes biking and kayaking great activities any time of the year. Make the most of your day in La Jolla with the Plunge Bike Tour and the Sea Caves Kayak Tour.

Start your bike tour at the top of Mt. Soledad, with stunning views of the entire San Diego coastline and even as far as Mexico. Hop on a custom fitted hybrid bike, zoom down the mountain at your pace and enjoy stops highlighting many of La Jolla's most famous landmarks such as the Cove and Ecological Reserve, and the Sea Lion Rookery. Then, kayak the La Jolla Sea Caves and Ecological Reserve, which boast an amazing array of scenery and wildlife you can't find anywhere else in the city. Paddle alongside an expert guide through kelp forests and incredible caves and other rock formations, and you might spot sea lions, dolphins, harbour seals, bat rays, and harmless leopard sharks.

Bike tour includes multi-speed hybrid bicycle, helmet, water, snacks, and admission to the La Jolla Cave Store. Closed-toe shoes are strongly suggested (no sandals and flip-flops). Kayak tour includes stable, sit-on-top kayaks (single or tandem), paddle, life jacket, and helmet. Wetsuit rentals are offered during fall, winter and spring. Waterproof cameras are available for sale. Swimsuits, easy-to-dry shorts and a top and/or windbreakers are recommended. No flip-flops, water shoes are preferable, but shoes are not necessary.
