Program details

Relax in the soothing and lush environment of the stunning Jardines de Alfabia, one of the most beautiful corners of Mallorca. Located in Bunyola, in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana, this historic country estate consists of a magnificent manor house, gardens and an orchard. Ever since Moorish times, centuries ago, chroniclers have lauded its charms.

Stroll down a tranquil tree-lined classical-style pathway as you enter the house and the inner patio. Rooms feature decorative elements from such varied styles as Roman, Arabic, Gothic, Renaissance, baroque, rococo and even Victorian. The pine and oak coffered ceiling was the work of Moorish craftsmen and is believed to date from 1170. The frieze still reads: ‘Allah is great. Allah’s is the power. There is no other God but Allah.

Wander through the lavishly furnished period rooms, including the Sala Gran, with painted scenes of the Palma and other Mallorcan towns, and the Sala de la Cadira, where you can admire illustrations, musical instruments and neoclassical busts.

The gorgeous gardens offer a quiet retreat and shade in the summer heat. The most emblematic feature is the pergola with its fountains. The water jets cross one another, turning the shimmer and murmur of the water into a sensual delight. There is a clear English influence in some of the landscaping and there is a section known as the Queen’s Little Garden because it was conceived because after the stay of Queen Isabella II in 1860.
