Program details
With your guide you will explore the "Neustadt" of Hamburg between st. Pauli and "laiszhalle", a very lively quarter of the inner city. You will find a residential area with attractive little shops, cafés and restaurant with a long interesting history since 1670. Right at the former border of Hamburg people of other confessions were allowed to live here. Therefore this quarter became the first Jewish community of Hamburg.
Later it was famous as a labor quarter including many unionists. That was the reason for big changes by the Nazis (destruction of Jewish traces and new urban developments). On this walk all the different decades of the "Neustadt" will be explained and shown by interesting architectural examples. Welcome to the exclusive expedition to the "Neustadt".
Meeting/pick-up point: In front of Janny's Eisdiele.
Duration: 90 minutes.
Start/opening time: At 5pm.
