Program details

Dive right into the heart of one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and discover its essence by the best means possible – through the food and wine! Ljubljana is one of Europe’s most underrated destinations, so not only will this tour give you a behind the scenes peek into local life, you’ll also be exploring a place in a way that very few travellers have done before. Win-win situation in our book! We’ll start our city adventure with a bang – we’ll show you the most stunning view across the city from a café on top of one of the most prominent buildings in town, the perfect lasting memory for your Ljubljana experience. And a perfect photo opportunity.

We’ll order some local wine possibly a traditional cake and talk about stories of how Slovenia lived during the times of Yugoslavia, and how the country has changed since it became independent. You’ll continue your Ljubljana day tour on to a neighbourhood considered by locals to be one of the most picturesque and idyllic in the entire city. With a tiny canal running through it, a beautiful church, cosy little restaurants and bars under chestnut trees, and local stories of poets and their lovers, this neighbourhood is overflowing with charm. Along the way we’ll stop in a couple of the popular local bars to savour some delicious local cheeses and charcuterie platters, and a very impressive wine list. Most wines are carefully handpicked by the owners from small wineries around Slovenia, giving you the chance to sip on some local specialties that are hard to find in other places across the globe. On our way we will stop at Prešeren Square, in the very centre of the city.

With views of the Triple Bridge and Ljubljana Castle on one side, and a magnificent Franciscan church on the other, you’ll feel like you’ve just walked right into a scene from a beautiful postcard. In this square, your local guide will tell you tales of the love story behind the main statue in the square, which is dedicated to a famous Slovenian romantic poet, France Prešeren. You’ll be whisked away by the stories of Slovenia’s connection with love, from the country’s name, language, and Ljubljana itself – these tales are enough to soften even the hardest of hearts! Our Ljubljana tour will finish here and your local guide will be happy to give you directions back to your accommodation, or anywhere else in Ljubljana that you might like to explore.
