Program details

Pedal through the streets of Athens, a city we all relate to Olympic Games in the back of our minds. This bike tour takes you up Fillopappous Hill, while along the way you get to see many of this city’s most important landmarks. A bike tour through Athens is no doubt the best way to explore this richly cultural city. The streets’ flatness is ideal for rolling along from one architectural wonder to another.

Begin the ride by passing next to the New Museum of Acropolis, a 21st century building made as a complement to the ruins. Your first stop is past the Acropolis, at the Amphitheatre of Herodes Atticus, a Roman-era construction that can fit more than 6.000 people in its colossal interior. Thanks to its genius acoustics, classical theatre plays are performed in this space even to this day.

Continue up to the breath-taking Acropolis. The path that takes you there is a pleasant rise surrounded by olive trees. From the Acropolis, enjoy the best vantage point of the Ancient Greek Agora and most of modern Athens. Once on Fillopappous Hill, take out your camera and get amazing pictures of the Acropolis with the stunning Parthenon in the background, plus colourful panoramic pics of Athens and the Aegean Sea.

As you continue along the pedestrian route, pass the relaxing Thission, wherein lies the temple of Haephastus, the best preserved temple in Athens. Thission is also the best place for chilling out with a cup of coffee in one of its many bars and restaurants.

Meeting/pick-up point: Lempesi 1 (next to the new acropolis museum).
Start/opening time: First bike at 10am.
End/closing time: Last bike at 6pm..
