Program details
A comfortable coach will depart from outside Clarion Edge daily at either 08.30 or 09.00 (depending on which time you have booked for) for the scenic 90 minute drive to this evocative and fairy tale venue in the Arctic wilderness in Tamokdalen. The bus is marked “Ice Domes” and a guide will be there to greet you outside the Magic Ice Bar and direct you towards the bus. During this combination tour, you will have a chance to drive your own team of huskies, take a guided tour of the ice domes, and visit our small group of reindeer.
Dogsledding:
Dog sledding is a tradition of travel in the Arctic. Our dog sledding consist of a musher, a sled and Alaskan huskies. It´s an adventurous activity for your Arctic holiday in Tromsø. We love doing this and want to share the amazing feeling of leading a dog sled with happy and strong Alaskan huskies. From our kennel we slide into the snow-covered valley of Tamokdalen, between trees and over hills.
You don´t need any experience because our guides will give you all the equipment you need, teach you how to use the sled and then into the wild we go. You will drive in pairs and rotate halfway along the track. We will pick you up with our bus in Tromsø city and drive you back after the tour.
For all departures, pick-up is outside the Magic Ice Bar in Tromsø. Please meet up 15 min before your departure. Our driver and bus will meet you in front of the hotel
Ice Domes:
Set among high mountains in the beautiful Tamok Valley, Tromso Ice Domes is built every year as the Polar Night approaches.
The snow and ice art reflects the unique bond between man and nature in a unique and breath-taking manner. The ice bar, our ice cinema, the ice bedrooms and ice restaurant have themes ranging from local Sami culture to the northern lights conveyed through beautiful colored lighting and wonderful ice sculptures.
At the Ice Domes you will join a guided tour and learn about the construction process of an ice hotel and the impact the snow has for the survival of our arctic animals. There will be time to walk around freely and ask questions to the experienced guide. A non-alcoholic ice shot at the stunning ice bar is complementary. You will be able to purchase other drinks, which will be served in the ice restaurant or ice bar.
We also have a small group of reindeer at the Tromsø Ice Domes for our guests to visit. Please note that there is no reindeer sledding, sami culture, or petting the reindeer involved in this tour
