This full-day tour is an ideal introduction to Auckland and its wild natural surroundings. Dis-cover spectacular ocean vistas, dramatic views from the top of several volcanoes, lush green parkland, iconic landmarks, tranquil harbour-side bays, untamed coastline, black sand beaches, native rainforest with ancient Kauri trees and unique indigenous flora and fauna. An experienced local guide will provide you with plenty of fascinating information about the local natural history and culture making for a truly unforgettable day.
After being picked up from your hotel , the day will start with a sightseeing tour of Auckland. You’ll soon understand why this thriving metropolis is known as the City of Sails, when you see the splendid craft on sparkling Waitemata Harbour and brooding Manukau Bay. We’ll drive through the city centre, passing picturesque colonial suburbs sand acres of lush parkland before crossing the iconic Harbour Bridge. Enjoy great views of the city from the top of Mount Victoria, the highest of the 52 dormant volcanoes that surround the city.
Then in the afternoon, we’ll head out to Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. Admire breath-taking panoramic views down over the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean, as you learn about the area’s fascinating history. Then continue westwards, heading for New Zealand's wild and rugged West Coast. Walk through an area of coastal rainforest where you can admire the giant tree ferns growing alongside burbling streams. You’ll feel like you’ve walked into a scene from the Lord of the Rings.
Next we’ll go for a stroll along a magnificently secluded West Coast beach where you can walk along the black sand and enjoy the bracing ocean breeze. Then after a picnic lunch, it’s time to venture into an area of old growth rainforest with mature 1000 year old Kauri trees before rejoining the tour bus for the trip back to Auckland
